Congressional Coordinator

 

The Embassy of Japan is seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented individual for the position of Congressional Coordinator. This individual is primarily responsible for helping arrange the logistics for the Congressional members and staffers, the Japanese Diet members, etc. in the Congressional Affairs Section. Please see below for a detailed listing of responsibilities.

 

The Embassy offers group health insurance coverage, paid vacation and sick leave. Working hours are 9:00 am – 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with lunch time receptionist duty once a month and the occasional weeknight and/or weekend event (paid overtime). Salary is commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Organize events, seminars and meetings for Congressional members and staffers
  • Conduct administrative duties such as make appointments, develop itineraries, and coordinate transportation for diplomats and guests, and draft letters or other materials
  • Assist diplomats in summarizing news articles, reports, and other open-source information in Japanese and formulate other documents in connection to coordinating congressional affairs
  • Other responsibilities as needed and appropriate

Required and Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong English communication skill and sufficient ability to read/write Japanese language administrative documents
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexibility and resourcefulness
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
