Kitchen Assistant

The Embassy of Japan is seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented individual for the position of Ambassador’s Residence kitchen assistant. This individual is primarily responsible for assisting Japanese chefs in serving meals at official events as well as cleaning and maintaining the dishes and kitchen tools. Please read below for a detailed listing of responsibilities.

The Embassy offers group health insurance coverage, paid vacation and sick leave. Working hours are variable and include weekends and holidays. Salary is commensurate with experience.

  • Assist Japanese chefs in preparing meals at official events at the Residence, including breakfast meetings, business lunches, official dinners, and receptions.
  • Maintain cleaning dishes and tools in the kitchen.
  • Washing and pressing linens.
  • Hand washing glassware and dishes.


  • Reliable individual with excellent communication skills and attendance records.
  • Flexible schedule required (include weekends and holidays).
  • Able to perform meticulous tasks such as cutting ingredients and decorating dishes, etc.
  • Candidates with prior experience are welcome but not required.
