Launching of the Pilot Program for Human Resource Development in Asia for Peacebuilding

1. On June 22, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs launched a Pilot Program for Human Resource Development in Asia for Peacebuilding, commissioning the program to Hiroshima University . Dr. Toshimasa Asahara, President of Hiroshima University, paid a courtesy call on Mr. Taro Aso, Minister for Foreign Affairs, on this occasion.
2. This program is intended to develop human resources in Japan and other Asian countries with the practical capabilities necessary for extending on-site assistance in parts of the world where peacebuilding is needed. The Hiroshima Peacebuilders Center (HPC), which will be established at Hiroshima University , will mainly conduct the program from the middle of September this year for about 15 civilians from Japan and 15 from Asian countries including the ASEAN.
