Selection Results for Trainees for the Pilot Program for Human Resource Development in Asia for Peacebuilding

1. The selection process for trainees for the Pilot Program for Human Resource Development in Asia for Peacebuilding (commissioned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, secretariat located in the Hiroshima Peacebuilders Center), which starts this year, has been completed.

 

2. 15 Japanese trainees were selected from 92 applicants after resume screening and interviews.  The fields of expertise include education, health and medicine, humanitarian assistance, child protection, media, Disarmament Demobilization Reintegration (DDR), governance, community development, and south-south cooperation.  The ages of the trainees vary from 24 to 36, and 2 male and 13 female trainees were selected.

 

3. 15 trainees from other Asian countries (one each from the ASEAN countries, China, the Republic of Korea, India, Mongolia, and Nepal) will also participate in the program.   They belong to a variety of organizations such as their country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Interior, Police Agency, Ministry of Peace and Development, think tanks, and NGOs.

 

4. The trainees will undertake coursework in Japan for about one and a half months beginning on September 15 (Sat) and participate in overseas on-the-job training program for about 5 months beginning in November.
