Activities to learn and acquire technology, skills, or knowledge at public or private organizations in Japan (including not only training in industrial techniques and skills but also administrative training in local governments and other public bodies and clerical training to acquire knowledge).

 

APPLICATION FILED WITH CERTIFICATE OF ELIGIBILITY

  1. Applicant's valid passport, properly signed by bearer
  2. VISA APPLICATION FORM TO ENTER JAPAN (available here), completely filled out and signed by the applicant
  3. One photograph (2"x 2") attached to application form
  4. Original "Certificate of Eligibility" from the Ministry of Justice in Japan and one photocopy (For instructions for obtaining the Certificate of Eligibility, have your Sponsor in Japan refer to www.immi-moj.go.jp.)

 

APPLICATION FILED WITHOUT CERTIFICATE OF ELIGIBILITY

  1. Applicant's valid passport, properly signed by the bearer
  2. VISA APPLICATION FORM TO ENTER JAPAN (available here), completely filled out and signed by the applicant
  3. One photograph (2" x 2") attached to the application form
  4. A training plan showing the substance of the training, the purpose, location, duration, schedule and the terms of training
  5. Documents certifying that the person concerned intends to engage in a duty that requires the technique, skill, and knowledge learned during the stay in Japan after returning home:
    • Documents certifying the applicant's academic and professional history and also indicating the relevance of the expected training to his/career path
    • Letter of dispatch from the organization the applicant currently belongs to and/or letter of reinstatement/reappointment of the applicant after the training
  6. A diploma and documentation certifying the professional career of the person concerned
  7. Documents certifying the professional career of the trainer regarding the training concerned
  8. Materials showing the outline of the foreign organization which is dispatching the applicant for training, such as business license/corporate registration document, annual report or other documents outlining the activities of the organization
  9. Documents outlining the receiving organization:
    • A copy of the corporate registration (Tokibo Tohon)
    • The most recent profit-and-loss statement (Son-eki Keisan-sho)
    • Materials describing business activities (e.g. an annual report)
    • A list of trainees at the organization (including name, date of birth, nationality, immigration status, and period of stay granted by the immigration office)
  10. One clear photocopy of all the documents you are submitting

 

The Embassy of Japan reserves the right to request additional documents if deemed necessary.

 

The Embassy of Japan will not make copies, if you need original documents, please bring the original and one copy.

 

Please allow at least four business days to have your application reviewed. (Cases without the Certificate of Eligibility may take a few months.)
