Activities to engage in theatrical performances, arts, song, dance, musical performances, sports, or any other show business. Applicants must fulfill certain conditions concerning personal history, work status, and form of entertainment. Activities such as the production of television programs or movies, the photographing of models, etc. It also includes activities as stage crew, coach or other staff necessary for the performance/event.

APPLICATION FILED WITH CERTIFICATE OF ELIGIBILITY

  1. Applicant's valid passport, properly signed by bearer
  2. VISA APPLICATION FORM TO ENTER JAPAN (available here), completely filled out and signed by the applicant
  3. One photograph (2"x 2") attached to application form
  4. Original "Certificate of Eligibility" from the Ministry of Justice in Japan and one photocopy (For instructions for obtaining the Certificate of Eligibility, have your Sponsor in Japan refer to www.immi-moj.go.jp.)
  5. Documents certifying the activity, its duration, the position, and the remuneration of the applicant, (e.g. a copy of a contract)

 

APPLICATION FILED WITHOUT CERTIFICATE OF ELIGIBILITY

  1. Applicant's valid passport, properly signed by bearer
  2. VISA APPLICATION FORM TO ENTER JAPAN (available here), completely filled out and signed by the applicant
  3. One photograph(2" x 2") attached to application form
  4. In cases where the person concerned intends to engage in theatrical or musical performances, or sports or other public entertainment events, the following documents are required:
    1. Documents that certify the applicant's qualification and his/her professional career.
    2. Materials on the sponsoring organization, such as copies of the corporate registration (Tokibo Tohon, issued within last 3 months) and a profit-and-loss statement (Son-eki Keisan-sho) of the business office in Japan (if it is a newly opened business, then a business plan for the next year), and materials describing business activities (e.g. an annual report)
    3. Materials on the facility where the applicant will engage in an activity (business license, map and photograph of the facility, list of employees, legal registration document, a profit-and-loss statement and receipt for the filed income tax)
    4. If the sponsoring organization is an agent or subcontracting from another organization, a copy of sponsoring organization's contract with an entity in charge of the performance/event is required
  5. In cases where the person concerned intends to engage in an activities as an entertainer not included above, the following materials are required:
    1. Materials showing the applicant's professional achievements, such as certifying letter from the organization the applicant belongs to, press coverage and awards won for previous works
    2. Documents certifying the activity, its duration, the position, and the remuneration of the applicant (e.g. a copy of a contract)
    3. Materials on the sponsoring organization, such as copies of the corporate registration (Tokibo Tohon, issued within last 3 months) and a profit-and-loss statement (Son-eki Keisan-sho) of the business office in Japan (if it is a newly opened business, then a business plan for the next year), and materials describing business activities (e.g. an annual report)
  6. One clear photocopy of all the documents you are submitting

 

The Embassy of Japan reserves the right to request additional documents if deemed necessary.

 

The Embassy of Japan will not make copies, if you need original documents, please bring the original and one copy.

 

Please allow at least four business days to have your application reviewed. (Cases without the Certificate of Eligibility may take a few months.)
