Monday, May 16th - 6:30pm
JICC Auditorium
Kimono designer and living master of the kyo-yuzen technique of dyeing, Naoki Nomura returns to the JICC to present "The Poetry of Kimono," a lecture illuminating his new designs and the inspiring poetry behind them.
In 2008, Mr. Nomura charmed JICC audiences with his humor and captivated them with his elegant designs.
This month, he joins us again - this time at the JICC's brand new home, opening soon on 18th Street NW - with new kimono sure to enchant. Reflecting the stories of the women of the Hyakunin-Isshu, a 13th century anthology of 100 waka by 100 poets, Mr. Nomura's lyrical threads harmonize the sentimental chords of verse with the dignified grace of kimono in a manner sure to delight lovers of art, fashion, and poetry alike.
This event is free and open to the public. Seating is limited and granted on a first come, first served basis. Open seats will be given to guests on standby when the program begins.
