Shinobi J-Film

Presented by JICC, Embassy of Japan and the Japan Commerce Association of Washington DC

It is the end of the Warring States period and the Tokugawa Shogunate has unified Japan, bringing peace and stability. The Shogun feels uneasy, though, and fears all possible threats to his power.

When his gaze falls on two remote Shinobi (ninja) clans, who have ancient grudges between them but are now at peace, he perceives a future menace, as their mysterious talents and legendary combat skills are available to the highest bidder. Also, the heirs to the two clans have fallen in love and a union between them could mean one unified clan.

To ensure his continued grip on the land, the Shogun tricks the two clans into breaking their truce, reigniting a feud that spirals out of control and can only be settled in blood. When the lovers next meet, it will be on the battlefield.

See the movie, then catch a live martial arts demonstration at the JICC as part of our week-long martial arts celebration! Information and registration coming soon.
