The beloved but hapless and unlucky hero of classic Japanese TV and film, Tora-san, makes his debut in It's Tough Being a Man.
After many years, Torajiro Kuruma - Tora-san - returns to his own dear neighborhood and family rice cake shop in Shibamata, Tokyo. While his family prepares for his sister's wedding, Tora-san meets and falls for the beautiful Fuyuko. His pursuit of her is stymied, though; she's already engaged to another man.
Can Tora-san win Fuyuko's heart, despite her engagement and his family's uproarious protests? Find out in the first installment of the classic Tora-san series.
The JICC is delighted to host the director of It's Tough Being a Man, Hideki Wada, for a Q&A session after the screening. See the film, then ask your questions about the film-making process!
