The Japan Information & Culture Center (JICC) is a part of the Public Affairs Section of the Embassy of Japan in Washington D.C. The JICC is committed to enriching the relationship between Japan and the United States through an active, vibrant cultural exchange. We aim to promote a better understanding of Japan and Japanese culture by providing a wide range of information and diverse cultural programming.

For the past few decades, the JICC has provided the residents of District of Columbia, Virginia, and Maryland with an exciting artistic, educational, and cultural dialogue, often in partnership with local institutions like the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the National Cherry Blossom Festival, the Smithsonian Institution, and many more.

Through our Educational Program, we invite students and adults from around the DMV to join us and explore the rich, dynamic history of Japanese culture. From samurai to robots to business etiquette, we welcome all ages to the Center to develop a deeper cultural awareness. The JICC in Washington D.C. provides services to the District of Columbia, Virginia, and Maryland. If you live outside these jurisdictions, we encourage you to find the closest cultural center to you through our Japanese Consulates page.

We offer a wide variety of brochures, pamphlets, tourist maps, and other printed materials providing general information on Japan for personal and educational use. As our supplies are limited we may not be able to fulfill all requests.
