Congratulations to all the winners of the 2014 Haiku Contest! In December, the JICC hosted a haiku contest in conjuction with the Golden Triangle BID. 400 haiku were submitted and reviewed by an expert panel of judges from the JICC, including Abigail Friedman, author of I Wait for the Moon and The Haiku Apprentice, and Roberta Beary, author of The Unworn Necklace and Deflection. Winning poems are now displayed under trees along the sidewalks of the Golden Triangle neighborhood. The grand prize winner received tea and a guided tour of Ippakutei, the Embassy of Japan's traditional Japanese Tea House. Show us your favorites on Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #GoldenHaiku!
A map and PDF of where to view the haiku on display in tree boxes around Golden Triangle is available on the Golden Triangle BID's website.
snow storm—
my garden Buddha
becomes Santa
midnight snow
whispers of light
in the darkness
Christmas morning...
following my breath
into the woods
