One night, two delinquent youth, Kyu and Ryoji, escape from juvenile detention during a mass breakout. After a close call with the authorities they decide to split up. Kyu begins to find new meaning in his life through work and romance but Ryoji falls in with a rough crowd which warps his worldview.

Starring singer Kyu Sakamoto and directed by one of Nikkatsu's top action directors, Toshio Masuda, Keep Your Chin Up is an entertaining and touching film that captures the joys, sorrows, and hopes of Japanese youth during a time of tremendous change.
