For three 72-hour weekend screenings in January, we have selected some amazing films from some of the latest and greatest talents in Japanese cinema.

Since 2006, the JICC has been organizing free Japanese film screenings in the DMV area. We are so proud to offer a diverse monthly film program and a fun way to engage with Japanese arts & culture! From award-winning classics to exciting new works from rising auteurs, please check out the many other titles in this series in our Event Archive.

Three murders have occurred in the Tokyo area. Left behind in all of the murders is a series of baffling numbers hinting at a future crime. Detective Nitta goes undercover as Hotel Cortesia staff in order to find the culprit before the crime can take place. But the first-rate clerk Yamagishi, who is also supervising him, refuses to let Nitta's investigation compromise the hotel's service standards.

Over the next six years, the middle-class couple and their young son Asato settle into a comfortable, albeit routine, life. The family’s orderly existence is shattered by the arrival of Hikari, a young woman claiming to be Asato’s biological mother, demanding his return. As tensions mount, Satoko grows more and more emboldened to defend her family.
