Friendly Competition: Images from the
2011 FIFA Women's World Cup Final Exhibition

Presented by JICC, Embassy of Japan in cooperation with Kyodo News

Just last month, the Japan Women's National Soccer Team known as "Nadeshiko Japan" won the hearts and admiration of people around the world with their stunning win over the US, becoming the first Asian nation to earn soccer's World Cup. In Japanese, Nadeshiko is the name of a frilled pink flower, but the term is also used to refer to the ideal Japanese woman, sweet but strong-hearted, something the team has come to symbolize.

Join us as we commemorate the outstanding FIFA Women's World Cup Final between friends and allies, Japan and the USA, with a panel display of images capturing the thrill and excitement of the game.

Although both teams played an incredible match, in the end Nadeshiko Japan emerged victorious-- lifting not only the trophy but the spirits of a nation still struggling with the devastation of the March 11 earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disaster.

Stop by the JICC to enjoy these incredible images. We look forward to seeing you!
