Reception in Honor of the swearing in of
U.S. Ambassador to Japan Caroline Kennedy

Ambassador's Residence

 

 

On November 12, 2013, Ambassador Sasae and Mrs. Sasae hosted a reception at the Ambassador’s Residence in honor of the swearing in of U.S. ambassador to Japan, Caroline Kennedy. Ambassador Kennedy is the first female U.S. ambassador to Japan.

 

Prior to the start of the reception, Ambassador Kennedy and other honored guests participated in a Japanese tea ceremony.

 

The reception featured opening remarks from Ambassador Sasae, a reading of Robert Frost’s poem “The Road Not Taken,” remarks by Ambassador Kennedy, and remarks and a toast from Secretary of State John Kerry.

 

 

 

In addition to the honored guests and speakers, members of Congress, guests from the Department of State, as well as many other distinguished guests also attended.
