Shin Ka: Inner Gardens of Reflection invites you to pause, breathe, and experience the profound connection between nature, healing, and self-reflection. This exhibition explores the history, philosophy, and cultural significance of Japanese gardens—from their traditional roots to their contemporary adaptations. More than places of beauty, these landscapes serve as spaces for contemplation, resilience, and transformation.
A central focus is the Memorial Healing Garden at Oregon State Penitentiary, designed by renowned landscape architect Hoichi Kurisu of Kurisu LLC. Within an environment often defined by restriction, this garden offers a sanctuary for self-discovery and emotional healing. Through photographs, reflections, and firsthand accounts, the exhibition highlights the voices of the adults in custody who tend the garden, sharing their deeply personal experiences.
Engage with this exhibition not just as an observer, but as a participant in mindfulness and reflection.
