FEATURED EVENT
CONCERT | SOUND OF THE SHAMISEN
An Evening of Music with KANEKO Sumie, TANAKADATE Fumi, and ODAMURA Shu
For centuries, Japanese musicians have performed and composed for the Shamisen, a traditional string instrument. The JICC is pleased to welcome award-winning musicians KANEKO Sumie, TANAKADATE Fumi, and ODAMURA Shu for a dynamic performance of traditional and modern pieces on shamisen, classical guitar, and the Shinobue, a traditional Japanese flute.
In addition to spanning across time periods, the program will explore how classical Japanese and Western music can play off each other, with pieces featuring modern jazz elements complimenting and contrasting with the Shamisen.
We hope you can join us for this special concert at the JICC!
