On the occasion of America’s 250th birthday, we are excited to continue our special film series, Double Exposure, a celebration of the history of cultural and cinematic exchange between the U.S. and Japan. Our final film is the science fiction classic, Ghost in the Shell.️
Set in a fictional 2029, where cybernetics can fully replace the human body with a mechanical one, Major Kusanagi Motoko leads a special security division in Japan. While investigating a crime, The Major and her team are ensnared in the web of “The Puppet Master”, a shadowy figure hacking into cyberized bodies. Driven by an exciting and visually stunning plot, the film grows into a mediation on identity and the self in a technologically advanced world.
