Hurricane Sandy:
Release of messages of sympathy from Prime Minister of Japan Yoshihiko Noda,
Foreign Minister of Japan Koichiro Gemba, and
the Ambassador of Japan Ichiro Fujisaki

 

1. In response to the damage caused by Hurricane Sandy in the East Coast of the United States, messages of sympathy were issued from Prime Minister of Japan Yoshihiko Noda to President Barack Obama on October 31st; from Foreign Minister of Japan Koichiro Gemba to Secretary of State Hilary Clinton on October 30th; and from the Ambassador of Japan Ichiro Fujisaki to President Barack Obama, Vice President Joseph Biden, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano, Secretary of Transportation Raymond LaHood, Governor Robert McDonnell of Virginia, Governor Martin O’Malley of Maryland, and Mayor Vincent Gray of the District of Columbia on October 31st.

 

2. These messages conveyed their feelings of sympathy and their wish for the swift recovery of the affected areas.
