Delivery of Personal Protective Equipment by Japan’s Self Defense Force

On December 8, Japan’s Self Defense Force aircraft KC-767 delivered 20,000 sets of Japan’s personal protective equipment (PPE) to Accra, Ghana. The UN Mission for Ebola Emergency Response (UNMEER) will distribute them from Accra to the affected countries – Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Mali.

This is a part of Japan’s efforts to counter the Ebola outbreak which include about $145 million in financial contributions, the provision of 720,000 total sets of PPE, and participation of Japanese medical experts in the WHO mission.
