Exchange of Notes for
Loan to the International Development Association

 

  1. On June 27th, Kenichiro Sasae, Ambassador of Japan to the United States, and Dr. Jim Yong Kim, President of the International Development Association (IDA) signed and exchanged the notes for loan from Japan to the IDA.

  2. Japan actively supports the IDA, a part of the World Bank Group, because of the extraordinary role it plays in seeking to reduce poverty in the poorest of countries. Japan’s total contribution up to now is the second largest among all donor countries after the U.S.

  3. As to the IDA 17th replenishment, Japan is committed to providing over 310 billion yen in the form of subscription and over 190 billion yen in the form of a concessional loan, accounting to more than 10% of the replenishment.
