2018 Autumn Conferment of Decoration
Lieutenant General Charles G. Chiarotti

 

On Novermber 3, 2018 (Japan Time), the Government of Japan announced the foreign recipients of the 2018 Autumn Imperial Decorations. Former Deputy Commander of United States Forces in Japan Charles G. Chiarotti is among this year’s foreign recipients and, in recognition of his contributions towards strengthening bilateral security and defense cooperation between Japan and the United States of America, he will receive the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon.

Lieutenant General Chiarotti served as the Deputy Commander of United States Forces in Japan from 2016 to 2018. As the Deputy Commander, Lieutenant General Chiarotti played an important role in strengthening the Japan-U.S. relationship, including establishing a closer Japan-U.S. alliance with his strong leadership and deep understanding of the importance of the alliance.
