On February 12, 2014 Ambassador Sasae hosted a reception at his residence to honor the conferral of the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun upon Senator John Davison Rockefeller IV.
The reception opened with the Japanese National Anthem and The United States National Anthem performed by Ms. Eriko Tokura Murray. The performance was followed by a short video presentation highlighting Senator Rockefeller’s contributions to Japan-US relations.
The ceremony included remarks by Ambassador Sasae, the conferral of the decoration upon Senator Rockefeller, a reading of the congratulatory letter from Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe, remarks by Senator Rockefeller, and remarks and a toast by Mr. Taguchi, Advisor of Toyota Motor Corporation.
The event was attended by members of Congress, Ambassadors, members of the US Government, Governors, and other honored and distinguished guests.
