2015 Autumn Conferment of Decoration - The Honorable Brent Scowcroft

On November 3rd, 2015 (Japan Time), the Government of Japan announced the foreign recipients of the 2015 Fall Imperial Decorations. The Honorable Brent Scowcroft is one of the 89 foreign recipients and he received the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun in recognition of his contributions to promoting friendly relations and mutual understanding between Japan and the United States.

General Scowcroft served twice as National Security Advisor to the President. In　his capacity as National Security Advisor, General Scowcroft facilitated high-level dialogues, for example, by organizing US Presidential visits to Japan.　By doing so he has made contributions in promoting mutual cooperation between the two countries, as well as deepening the Japan-US economic relationship. After leaving his post at the White House, he has also continued to actively engage in dialogues with various Japanese leaders.
