2021 Autumn Conferment of Decoration
Curator Emerita, Ann Yonemura

On November 3, 2021 (Japan Time), the Government of Japan announced the foreign recipients of the 2021 Autumn Imperial Decorations. Ann Yonemura, the former Senior Associate Curator of Japanese Art of the Freer Gallery of Art and Arthur M. Sackler Gallery, the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Asian Art, is among this year’s foreign recipients. In recognition of her contributions towards introducing Japanese culture in the United States of America and promoting mutual understanding between Japan and the U.S., she will receive the Gold and Silver Rays of the Order of the Rising Sun.
