2021 Spring Bestowal of Decoration
The Honorable William Hollis Long II

On April 29, 2021, the Government of Japan, on behalf of his Majesty the Emperor of Japan, announced the recipients of the 2021 Spring Imperial Decorations. Among the recipients is Congressman William Hollis Long II, who will receive the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon, in recognition of his significant contributions to deepening bilateral relations and promoting legislative exchanges between Japan and the United States.
 
SUMMARY OF CONTRIBUTIONS

Congressman Long served as Co-Chair of the Congressional Study Group on Japan for nearly six years, which plays a critical role in enhancing Congress’ understanding of Japan and fostering mutual understanding between the Japanese Parliament and the U.S. Congress. During his tenure as Co-Chair, he made significant contributions in furthering bilateral relations, including leading congressional delegations to Japan every year.

Congressman Long also contributed to promoting legislative exchanges between Japan and the United States, hosting members of Japanese Parliamentary delegations numerous times during their visits to Washington, DC.

The Government of Japan looks forward to continue working with Congressman Long in strengthening bilateral relations and promoting friendship between Japan and the United States.
