2021 Spring Conferment of Decoration
Adam S. Posen, PhD On April 29, 2021(Japan Time), the Government of Japan announced the foreign recipients of the 2021 Spring Imperial Decorations. President of the Peterson Institute for International Economics Adam S. Posen is among this year’s foreign recipients. In recognition of Dr. Posen’s contributions to Japanese macroeconomic policy and global economic cooperation, and the promotion of mutual understanding between the United States and Japan in the fields of financial, trade and fiscal policy, he will receive the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon.
SUMMARY OF CONTRIBUTIONS
Adam S. Posen has been president of the Peterson Institute for International Economics since 2013 and has made numerous contributions as a leading voice in the field of economic and fiscal policy. Since Dr. Posen wrote Restoring Japan’s Economic Growth in 1998, he has maintained a focused commitment to analysis of the Japanese economy, and he has contributed to Japanese economic and fiscal policymaking repeatedly from this astute viewpoint. He has also contributed to the promotion of mutual understanding and the enhancement of the economic relationship between the U.S. and Japan through ongoing discourse with experts from academia, industry and government in both countries, and through his analyses cited frequently across the media on the pressing issues of the Japanese economy and society. # # #
