2022 Spring Conferment of Decoration
Vice President of the Asia Society Policy Institute Wendy Cutler

On April 29, 2022 (Japan Time), the Government of Japan announced the foreign recipients of the 2022 Spring Decorations. Wendy Cutler, the Vice President of the Asia Society Policy Institute, is among this year’s foreign recipients. In recognition of her contributions towards strengthening economic relations between Japan and the United States, she will receive the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star.

SUMMARY OF CONTRIBUTIONS

Ms. Cutler served for a long time at the Office of the United States Trade Representative, where she was involved in trade policy in the Asia-Pacific region. In particular, while serving as Assistant United States Trade Representative for Japan, Korea, and APEC, and as Acting Deputy United States Trade Representative, she was instrumental in creating an environment for Japan’s participation in the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) negotiations and in concluding those negotiations.
