2024 Autumn Conferment of Decoration - Former Commander, Pacific Air Forces Scott D. Berrier

On November 3, 2024 (Japan Time), the Government of Japan announced the 2024 Fall Conferment of Decorations on Foreign Nationals, with Scott D. Berrier, Former Director, Defense Intelligence Agency, being one of the recipients. In recognition of his contributions towards Japan-U.S. and multilateral intelligence cooperation, he will receive the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star.

Mr. Berrier has long engaged in the strengthening of Japan-U.S. bilateral and multilateral intelligence cooperation. From October 2020 until his retirement in February of this year, he contributed to intelligence cooperation not only bilaterally between the United States and Japan, but also multilaterally, including Japan-U.S.-Australia and Japan-U.S.-South Korea. Consequently, he made significant contributions to further strengthening the Japan-U.S. alliance and improving Japan's intelligence gathering and analysis capabilities.
