2024 Spring Conferment of Decoration - Former Commander, Pacific Air Forces David J. Adams

On April 29, 2024 (Japan Time), the Government of Japan announced the 2024 Spring Conferment of Decorations on Foreign Nationals, with David J. Adams, Former Commander, Fleet Activity Sasebo, being one of the recipients. In recognition of his contributions towards reinforcing the alliance between Japan and the United States in the field of defense, he will receive the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon.

Captain Adams served as Commander, of Fleet Activities Sasebo from September 2019 to September 2023. By reinforcing cooperation between the Japan Maritime Self Defense Force and the United States Navy to protect the peace and security of Japan, he significantly contributed to the maintenance and reassurance of Japan-U.S. security. In addition, he was committed to nurturing mutual understanding and the friendship between Japan and the United States through social welfare and cultural exchanges between local residents and the United States Navy’s personnel.
