2024 Foreign Minister’s Commendation - Mr. Frank Jannuzi

On August 1, 2024 (Japan Time), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan announced the recipients of the Foreign Minister’s Commendations for FY 2024. Mr. Frank Jannuzi is among this year’s foreign recipients. He will receive the Commendation in recognition of his outstanding contributions to promoting mutual understanding between Japan and the United States.

Mr. Jannuzi assumed the role of President and CEO of the Mansfield Foundation in 2014 and has dedicated his efforts to policy dialogues and people to people exchanges between Japan and the United States in non-traditional security fields such as space, cyber, energy, and the environment. During his tenure, the Mansfield Fellowship Program, a practical intergovernmental training program that allows U.S. federal government employees to experience working in Japan, was extended from one to two years and is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2024.

Every year, the Foreign Minister’s Commendations are awarded to individuals and groups with outstanding achievements in international fields, in order to acknowledge their contributions to the promotion of friendship between Japan and other countries and areas. The Commendations also aim to promote the understanding and support of the Japanese public for the activities of the recipients.
