2020 Fall Bestowal of Decoration
The Honorable Theodore Scott Yoho On November 3, 2020, the Government of Japan, on behalf of his Majesty the Emperor of Japan, announced the recipients of the 2020 Fall Imperial Decorations. Among the recipients is Congressman Theodore Scott Yoho, who will receive the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon, in recognition of his significant contributions to strengthening bilateral relations and promoting friendship between Japan and the United States. SUMMARY OF CONTRIBUTIONS
As Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Asia and the Pacific, Congressman Yoho played a critical role in the development and strengthening of Japan-US relations. He led important legislation that aims to maintain peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific. Congressman Yoho also contributed to the deepening of ties between the US Congress and the Japanese Parliament, leading Congressional delegations to Japan, and hosting numbers of Parliamentary delegations upon their visit to Washington DC. He has also been instrumental in promoting Japanese businesses in Florida. Congressman Yoho has been a great friend to Japan. While we are mindful of his announcement to leave Congress, there is no doubt that his long-standing presence in our bilateral relations will help us further, in confronting the grave challenges that lie ahead, and in seizing the opportunities that await us in the years to come. # # #
