To all international students who wish to start studying in Japan

Due to the emergence of the Omicron COVID-19 variant, as of November 30, 2021, entry into Japan for all foreign nationals, including international students, has been suspended for at least the month of December. The Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Mr. Suematsu, is fully aware that this latest border control measure is causing great concern for many students. The Embassy of Japan shares in these concerns felt by students. The Minister, aware of the anxiety caused by recent measures, has pledged to expedite the entry of students into Japan by coordinating with officials at universities and other institutions as soon as it is safe to do so.
